The Foundation for Change, through a grant from Ford Foundation, is working to convene approximately 40 people, presenting 10 community-based organizations and grassroots communities in the Tijuana/Tecate region to engage in collective analyses of their work and to share different organizing strategies, intended to mobilize change. The “Tijuana Organizing & Learning Network,” a pilot project funded through July, 2012 has gathered three times since its inception and has plans for three additional gatherings.

The first meeting was held on November 11, 2011 at Alter Terra, in Los Laureles Canyon, in the

community of Terrazas de San Bernardo.

The second gathering held on January 14, 2012 was hosted by the Proyecto Fronterizo de Salud Ambien

tal (PFEA), in Playas de Tijuana,  and included organizations focusing on a wide-array of environmental sustainability issues in the Tijuana/Tecate region. View photos.

The most recent gathering on February 4, 2012 was a tour of the maquiladoras and their impact on Tijuana.  The tour was organized by Ollin Calli and Colectivo Chiplancingo de Jovenes. View photos.
