DEMOCRACY FOR ALL – Spring, 2011 Grant Awards

As part of its multi-year initiative supporting “Democracy for All,” the Foundation for Change is pleased to announce the award of $300,000 in grants to local organizations working to build political power within historically under-represented communities of San Diego County.

 

TAKING OFF FUND 2011:

The “Taking Off Fund” was established at the Foundation for Change by a consortium of California-based foundations to increase the reach of San Diego organizations that were ready to “take off” in their efforts to build an electoral base.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce grants totaling $225,000 to:

Another round of funding will be mobilized in the coming months for groups wishing to prepare themselves more completely to engage in this work.

 

REDISTRICTING FUND 2011:

The “Redistricting Fund 2011” was established at the Foundation for Change through a grant from the James Irvine Foundation to ensure that leaders from historically under-represented communities of color would become engaged in the work of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission.
